Catchment

Core area as shown. Although Hastings might be a relatively small town, it has a thriving Hastings & District Cricket Association with member clubs from Rye & Tenterden in the East, across to Robertsbridge, Bodiam and Northiam in the north, then across to Herstmonceux and Eastbourne in the west and back through Bexhill. The Hastings & District Umpires and Scorers Association has members in each of those towns.

Meetings

Hastings and District ACU&S has not traditionally met formally due to a busy programme of umpiring indoor cricket on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings plus Sunday mornings from October – March inclusive. However, it is planned to try and change this so that we meet at least every other month in the future, the first of these is likely to be in January 2009, further details to follow.

Forthcoming Events:-

New Scorers Course see Training below

Training

Training throughout the old county of Sussex is organised on a county-wide basis. Forthcoming courses in our area include:

Level 1 Scorers

Dates for 2010-2011 yet to be confirmed

Contact Tim Hart (timhbs@yahoo.co.uk) or Paul Fuller (see below)

Membership of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials is not mandatory but highly recommended if only for the free insurance cover and free CRB check which all Umpires and Scorers must now hold in order to officiate any game. You should bear in mind that membership of ECB ACO is manadatory if you intend umpiring ECB controlled matches. Membership currently costs £20 per year.

Level 1 Umpires

Mondays, 10 weeks from 21 February 2011, at Horntye Park, Bohemia Road, Hastings, 7.30pm

Course costs £30 - we recommend you also purchase a copy of Tom Smiths New Cricket Umpiring and Scoring (2004 Jubilee print incorporating the 2003 changes to the 2000 Code of the Laws of Cricket) copies of which are available for £10.
