Training

Training throughout the old county of Sussex is organised on a county-wide basis. Forthcoming courses in our area include:

Umpires Level 1 Courses

at Jim Parks Bar, County Ground, Hove,

Monday 5th October 2009 – Monday 7th December 2009 (10 x Mondays) 7.30pm - 10pm

Sunday 7th March – Sunday 21st March 2010 (3 x Sundays) 10am – 4pm

Course costs £30 - we recommend you also purchase a copy of Tom Smiths New Cricket Umpiring and Scoring (2004 Jubilee print incorporating the 2003 changes to the 2000 Code of the Laws of Cricket)

Membership of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials is not mandatory but highly recommended if only for the free insurance cover and free CRB check which all Umpires and Scorers must now hold in order to officiate any game. You should bear in mind that membership of ECB ACO is manadatory if you intend umpiring ECB controlled matches. Membership currently costs £20 per year.

News

Our new website, www.brightonumps.co.uk, gives more information about our association, as well as a quiz where you can test your knowledge of the Laws of the game. Our training course fees include membership of our association (otherwise £5) so students are very welcome at our winter events.
